Vintage 1998
The year was notable from a meteorological point of view for its’ low rainfall during the months of July and August, as well as the first part of September. Two rainfalls which fell mid-September played a very favourable role, allowing the vines to regain optimum balance. The state of health of the grapes during the season was excellent., without any significant formation of disease of the vines, whilst the harvest was slowed and interrupted only by heavy rainfall which fell during the first ten days of October and a series of light hail storms at the beginning of the summer and the first week of October when , however, our grapes from “Bessole” were already in the phase of withering.
The quantity of grapes stored, in perfect health, was large, whilst the conditions of withering during the winter were ideal thanks to low temperatures, regular breezes and very few foggy days.
